In the sidebar, you’ll notice a “Meanwhile, on Twitter” widget has appeared. I use the hashtag #hst267 to hoover up any interesting content I come across in connection with this course (Traditional Japan), and retweet it so you get to see it without having to go on Twitter. (I think that’s pretty nifty!) I’ll share a mini-tuturial on how to set this up, if you want to use this feature on your own website later this semester.
If it is a thread, I’ll (try to remember to) indicate that, and you can just click on the sidebar and it will take you to Twitter to see the whole thing, even if you don’t have an account.
A lot of academics use Twitter to share insights and ask questions, and if you curate the collection of people you follow well, it can a very friendly and supportive place. Ask me if you’re interested in learning more about this social side of social media.
