First things first: I’m here to support you however I can. Take care of yourself and your family first. Our class should not be your priority. Everything about this class is flexible. Whatever happens, we will work it out.
Now for tomorrow’s class (March 12):
- We will meet in class. You can Zoom into class if you prefer, check your email inbox for this message, which will also contain the link.
- We will fine-tune our planning for going into remote learning, and how we can best communicate with each other while we are unable to meet in class.
- We will look at the materials from Tuesday’s class we did not cover. Let’s try to keep some semblance of normalcy. I have adjusted the schedule on the course website for week 8, and I hope you can cover the readings, but I understand that your mental bandwidth is taxed with many other things right now.
Other information:
- There will be no weekly reflection required for this week’s materials. However, you are always free to write a reflection.

- Remember the blog is your own, personal website: you can also blog about your experiences of being a student in the middle of a pandemic. Some people find great solace in writing during difficult times, not unlike Kamo no Chōmei in his “Account of My Hut” which we read in week 7 (PDF). Use the space to vent, to reflect, to create a community. If you don’t add it to the category HST267, I know to leave those posts alone.

- Mid-term grades: due this week’s scramble, grades won’t be done until later this week. I hope this is Saturday, but the official new deadline from the registrar for me is Monday, March 16.
