Week 3: Assignments

Please complete the assignments covering material from week 3 by the start of class on Tuesday of week 4 (Feb. 4)

  1. Read this article on giving great feedback: Cathy Davidson. “How to Give Great Feedback: The Architect Versus the Critic”. hastac, March 24 2018. URL https://www.hastac.org/blogs/cathy-davidson/2018/03/24/how-give-great-feedback-architect-versus-critic
        • Think about what kind of feedback you want to receive, and use that as a guideline for the feedback you will leave on your colleagues’ work this semester.
  2. Below are two websites, randomly selected from the students in this course. Go to each website and you should find at least one post there: a reflection for week 1 or for week 2.
        • If one of the websites shown below is your own, or it is twice the same site, refresh the page, and you should get new sites.
        • Use the hypothes.is add-on in your browser to give feedback to the post in the group HST267. Remember the Architect’s model of giving feedback! Be kind, be specific, and provide concrete suggestions for improvement.
        • You can respond to a post covering week 1 or week 2, or both. Remember you will become better at providing good quality feedback the more you do it. Practice leads to mastery!
          • Website 1:
          • Website 2:
  3. Create a Weekly Reflection responding to something we covered or read for the course in week 3:
        • add the blog post to the category HST267
        • Include the words week 3 in the title (you can personalize the title, as long as it includes these words: it helps me organize things on my end!)
        • Remember that the better reflections will respond to a specific text, object, or idea: provide concrete details and examples.
        • Include a reference to the text(s) you focus on, in Chicago notes and bibliography style.
              • TOP TIP: the references in the weekly schedule are formatted in this way. Copy-paste carefully, check no gremlins appeared in the process, and save some time.
  4. Check in on the Pad to see if you can help out with any questions, or add your own questions arising from reviewing the course materials.

Then go to Canvas and fill out the quiz with the declaration.
